Military Aircraft Investigation (MAI)

Course Description

With specific rules and regulations in place for military services, (L/D)max Aviation understands that providing education and training in the proper techniques and procedures for investigation of military aircraft mishaps is critical to the continued effort to improve aviation safety. Designed to just that, the MAI course is geared towards advanced training of pilots, maintenance employees and a variety of other technical experts in the military services required to meet specific investigating and reporting standards. While this course was originally developed with the procedures of the United States Air Force in mind, it can be easily modified to efficiently and successfully train any of the military service branches.

Course Attendees

Due to the focus on military aircraft mishaps, this course has been designed for the education and training of military personnel responsible for any of the following tasks:

  • Observation and assessment of military aircraft mishap investigations
  • Leading and/or managing the investigation process in any capacity

In addition, anyone currently in military service who will benefit in their current position from training and understanding of the investigation process as it pertains to military aircraft mishaps should consider attending this course. Open to not only aircrew, this course supports investigations involving maintenance, air traffic services, operations support and medical personnel.

  • Participation in classroom instruction and training to further develop an in-depth understanding of the entire investigation process
  • This course discusses international investigations between military services. Once example of this type of cooperation would be NATO's STANAG 3531.
  • Preparation for full participation in future military aircraft mishap investigations
  • Meets the goals and expectations of the United States Air Force Aircraft Mishap Investigation Course WCIP 05A.

Not only are students able to walk away from this course with a comprehensive knowledge base for investigating military aircraft mishaps, but the training and education provided by (L/D)max Aviation in the MAI course will aid in the military's goals to further enhance aviation safety.

Administration

With (L/D)max Aviation, course training will take place over the course of 9.5 days. This is classroom instruction time that includes lectures outlines and notes, up-to-date reference materials pertinent to discussions, and a final certificate of completion once all 76 hours have been completed.
