Air Traffic Services Investigation (ATSI)
Course Description
One area of aviation that offers a resource of crucial information for accident investigators is Air Traffic Services (ATS) and Air Traffic Control (ATC). Employing unique, focused procedures and equipment, the ATS and ATC provide critical information to those conducting aircraft accident or incident investigations. Gaining a complete understanding of the various types of ATS and ATC is necessary for investigators to effectively and efficiently retrieve and understand information originating from Air Traffic Service providers.
This course looks at a variety of aspects relating to ATS and ATC and the ways that this aspect of aviation has developed as the aviation industry as a whole has advanced. Attendees will take a close look at equipment, operational limitations, enroute, terminal and flight service, and much more. In addition, the topics of terminal, enroute, hybrid and military systems will all be addressed and examined. Looking at systems from less developed regions of the world to those regions with all available advancements, attendees will learn how to utilize information available to them regardless of the location. In addition, data recording systems will be explored in detail to help students understand not only what information is recorded, but also how to retrieve it to aid in their investigations.
This course has been designed to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of how to utilize the ATS and ATC to enhance the effectiveness of aviation accident or incident investigations.
